Social media might seem daunting and frightening but that’s only because you don’t know about it. As marketing experts, we know the massive benefits of social media and how easing your company into that world could help your success rate.
As of July 2021, there are 4.48 billion people actively using social media in the world.
Social media advertising is used by 83% of marketers
57% of consumers will follow a brand on social to learn about new products or services
Hopefully that’s enough to convince you that your company belongs on social. If not there are plenty of other studies and statistics on the internet for you to indulge in. Now if you want to get started on social but are scared to take the plunge, there are a few ways to start that process slowly.
Create an account
If you are really starting from scratch, the first step would be to sign up to the relevant platforms. Don’t go crazy to begin with, just find 1 or 2 platforms that you feel will have your audience on it. For example, if you’re B2B then LinkedIn might be the best option for you. Instagram and Twitter are more ideal for B2C companies who directly want to reach their customers in a fun and interesting way.
Post a story
Dedicating yourself to a posting schedule can be tricky to begin with. You have to think about a style for your graphics, tone of voice for your captions, hashtags and so on. But if you start by posting the occasional story, you can get a feel for what works and how often you’d feel comfortable posting each week.
Interact with followers
For some businesses, they want social purely to speak to the people that matter – their customers. So let’s say you have those accounts, start following people who you think are part of your target audience, comment on their posts, hear their issues and supply them with solutions. It’s all about getting your name out there.
