There’s so many questions about Twitter and how to navigate the platform.

So we’ve written a blog to clear a few of these questions up and hopefully it will help you too.

Twitter is a great platform to build brand awareness and show customers you have a presence online and on social. Get your business on board and start tweeting!

Question 1: What is a Tweet?

A Tweet is any message posted to Twitter which may contain photos, videos, links, and text. Click or tap the Tweet button to post an update to your profile.

Question 2: What is a Retweet?

A Retweet is a Tweet that you forward to your followers. It can be from another profile or your own.

Question 3: Can I edit a Tweet once I’ve posted it?

No, you can’t edit a Tweet once you have posted it, which is annoying. However you can delete your Tweet then repost it with the correct info/ image.

Question 4: How can I brand my Twitter profile?

You can do this multiple ways. By uploading your logo as your profile picture and a branded image for your header. It’s also a good idea to stick to a colour palette when tweeting images, also watermark your images with your logo.

Question 5: What should I put in my Twitter bio?

A few things actually. Start with your company name, your service offering, contact details and a website link (if you have one). Using emojis can also make your bio stand out more.

Question 6: What hashtags should I use?

If you’re familiar with meta tagging on your website then use similar words. We advise doing some keyword research around your business and industry, use these keywords as hashtags to help your business get found by new people.

Question 7: What are the best image dimensions for images on Twitter?

Cover photo – 1500px x 500px

Profile photo – 400px x 400px

Timeline photo – 1024px x 512px

Question 8: What content should I post?

If you’re posting to other platforms already, then do the same for Twitter remembering to bear in mind their 280 character limit. Talk about your services and/or products, the people behind your business, share articles relevant to your industry, funny behind the scenes clips and so on.

Question 9: How often should I post?

Unlike other social media platforms, it’s better to post more often to Twitter as it can make your business seem more active. We’d suggest 2-3 times a day (this can include your own content or Retweets.) It’s best to check your own analytics through and see what works well for you specifically.

Question 10: How should I use mentions?

You can get more traction on your Tweets simply by directly addressing other people using their handle or @. Don’t go spamming people though, use @s only when relevant to the tweet you’re posting.

We hope this cleared up some of your questions regarding Twitter. We also have more blogs discussing social media, so why not check them out on our blog page?
