This is the 4th blog in our ‘How To’ blog series and this time we’re talking about, well, blogs! How many times do you reckon we can say blog in this… blog?

Writing a blog may seem easy, and it can be. But far too many times we’ve seen generic posts that are either boring, copycats or just plain messy.

So what can you do to ensure your blogs stand out from the crowd and actually peak interest from your audience.?

We’ll be discussing some points you ought to focus on when writing and publishing your blogs.

Pick a Topic

This may seem obvious but people do get it wrong. Not only does your topic need to be fun to read about, it also has to be semi-relevant to what you actually do. Our tip is to find authoritative figures in your industry and see what they’re talking about, maybe you have a different view or take?

Create Structure

Just like anything, your blog needs to have structure. A start, a middle and an end if you will. Begin by introducing your blog and what you’ll be covering so readers know what to expect. Then delve into your topic and keep it punchy! Use bullet points or subtitles to keep it neat and tidy. Finally, end on a strong point and see if you can sneak a little call to action in there as well.

Add Visual Elements

A blog shouldn’t only be writing. There’s plenty of studies out there that prove people engage better with content that features visual aspects such as graphs, images and infographics. Try and incorporate a little imagery next time you upload a blog.

Promote and Push Online

If your website doesn’t have a heavy flow of traffic already, then you’re probably not going to get very many readers. So how do you solve this? Post it online. Shout about your amazing new blog all over your social media. Keep it up and you’re bound to get traction.
