Are you a small business and want to increase your marketing efforts? Not sure where to start?
In this blog, we’ll be answering some of the internet’s most frequently asked questions about marketing to give you some guidance on your next steps.
Q: How often should I blog?
A: As much as you can.
It all depends on how much free time you have as a business owner, but remember to sustain that frequency. It doesn’t matter whether you’re uploading weekly or monthly, just as long as you’re being consistent. Just keep in mind that blogging is essential in building rapport for your website and increasing your SEO, so you really ought to be uploading something.
Q: What kind of content should I be sharing on my social media?
A: Keep it 20/80.
The general rule of thumb is that 20% of your posts should be about your brand and the rest should be about your industry.
The 80% could be anything from writing your own blogs about the industry, re-sharing content from credible sources within your industry or user generated content (reviews, testimonials, etc). The 20% can be more direct about the products/services your business provides and be slightly more sales-focused.
Q: Where do you get inspiration from for campaigns?
A: Be a sponge.
Great ideas don’t always come to us straight away and sometimes all it takes is for one person to say something small that sparks a whole new campaign idea. Our tips would be to brainstorm as a group and find inspiration from everything around you – radio, TV, newspapers, magazines, Pinterest, etc.
Q: Where should I focus my marketing efforts?
A: Everywhere (if possible).
Marketing is all about taking a combination of methods to achieve the greatest results. PPC alone won’t work. Social media alone won’t work. Email campaigns alone won’t work. You see the pattern?
You have to find out what your business goals are and see what will work best to get you there.
