Tip #1 – Avoid working in bed

If you start working in bed you’ll likely get sleepy or have a hard time feeling really awake. Instead, start your day properly by getting up and making your bed like any other day. Also try to avoid working in your bedroom at all, set up an office space somewhere else in your house.

Tip #2 – Get changed and put shoes on

Change out of your pyjamas first thing, wash your face and get your morning coffee. It’s important to start your day how you usually would if you were actually going to work. It gets you in the right mind frame and ensures you’re ready to take full advantage of the day.

Tip #3 – Take set breaks

Distractions are the biggest challenge when it comes to working from home. Our tip is to set regular breaks where you can check your phone, grab a snack or drink, maybe even get some fresh air. When you’re not on a break, make sure you’re focused on your work by putting your phone out of sight and staying off your social media.

Tip #4 – Schedule daily catch ups with your teammates

You’re used to seeing your colleagues every day, and it’s likely you’ll experience withdrawal symptoms due to self isolating. But thanks to modern technology, we now have things like Zoom and Skype. Use these to your benefit and stay in contact with your teammates, talk about work but also remember to have a friendly catch up as well.
